Can anyone comment on whether they have received their jeans in actual 1 inch sizing increments? I know they TAG their sizes in 1 inch increments, but does their factory actually sew them up in 1 inch increments?
For example, I recently switched from buying their Straight in size 35 to 36. My 35's always came in measuring at the waist at 36". Just received my first pair from them in size 36, and it also measures 36", same as size 35.
So I'm wondering if their sizes go tagged size 33 or 34 actual waist 34", tagged size 35 or 36 actual waist 36", 37 or 38 actual waist 38, etc. as in 33 and 34 are the same size, 35 and 36 are the same size, 37 and 38 are the same size, etc.

In other words, the sew shop does what thesew shop wants. My 33s were as likely to come in at 33 as they were at 33.5, up to 34.5. I found it best to stop measuring and go by feel, only measuring if something felt really wrong. Coming in under spec became much more rare about 2 years after kickstarter. When I changed to 34, my experience was largely the same. |

This is one reason why some have moved on to more expensive suppliers.
Lord G was and continues to be inconsistent. Now that may also be true of others but at least you can call/email for a measurement or order, get your jeans and return them if the fit doesn't work all within a week.

I have 4 pairs of G denim in 34 slim. One of them came in at spec @ 34.5" while the other 3 came in at exactly 34". My weight fluctuations have made the 34" waist favorable to me fit wise but i've also learned that over time the denim shrinks after many washes.
As for expensive suppliers, I think they're just as likely to experience their stuff coming under spec just like G. 3sixteen is a good example. I have 3 pairs of their denim and 3 of their crosscut flannels. My st-100x came in .5" under spec in the waist, thigh, knee and hem. Likewise, 2 of the 3 crosscuts I own came in about .5" under spec. Pretty infuriating when you consider how much more these items cost over G's products. Maybe this is an outlier but it's proof the expensive denim does not mean they'll fit. I recall someone posting a similar complaint about Freenote's denim as well.

I have 7 pairs of G jeans bought from 2015 to 2016. I use the Exophobe method of trying them on and not messing with the tape measure.
In my opinion they have tweaked the pattern ever so slightly to where the thighs are a little wider and the rise slightly more, and the calves slightly wider (I buy all slim cut, tried the straight and hated the crotch droop and the flappy extra leg fabric). My jeans that I bought in 2016 fit better than the pairs I have from 2015 in these regards.

Wearing my light Zims at the moment, which are quickly becoming my favorite pair. I actually have multiple pairs that fit and wear well from them and these were my most expensive at 140. Most all my other pairs barely broke 100 or were a bit under. I'll be buying more in part because it's affordable to do so. YMMV

I agree with the method of trying on to see how close the fit is with most. I'd say most of mine were fairly consistent in the waist and rise (excluding the Antiques and the STF approach). The only exception may be the Sixteener which I got during the infancy of the Slim Straight option. All of mine were purchased between 2013-15. I realized that I haven't purchased jeans from G in over a year.

I'm new enough to the raw denim thing to have just realized that they will shrink 1" in the waist from their 'original' measurement after about 3 washes, regardless of how much they stretched out due to wearing. I'm a true 36, and so this means I need a 37" raw. Thought ordering a Gustin 36 would be the ticket. Used to order 35, and 99% of what I received from them marked 35 was bang-on 36". It was freaking frustrating thinking I finally figured this out, ordered a 36, and having it come at 36" - the same as their size 35.
